You sit down. Nothing is on display that is not for you, and nobody is standing behind you.

Loose stones come out on the tray — under the loupe, in daylight, with their certificates beside them. You handle them.

The setting is drawn while you watch. Proportions, height, how it will sit against a wedding band in ten years.

Before you leave, you know what the piece costs to make and why. Nothing follows you out of the room.

Mike and Panos Levendi.
Sophia and Nicholas Levendi opened the bench in 1967. The family has not left it since. One of the brothers is in the building most days, and one of them will be sitting across from you.
You will not be handed to a salesperson, because there isn't one.

A prototype comes off the printer so the ring can be tried on a hand before any metal is cut.

Stones go in by hand, at the peg, one at a time. This is the part nobody can hurry.

It leaves the bench once, for one person, and is never made a second time.
