1967 · The foundation

Founded by Sophia and Nicholas Levendi in South Africa, Levendi began as a labour of love and a deep passion for bespoke, handcrafted jewellery. As a family-run establishment, their commitment to unparalleled craftsmanship and timeless design set the stage for a legacy that would span generations.

By 1971 the house had become renowned for its collaborations and its bespoke work, and in 1981 it opened its first boutique.

1985 · Sydney

The house expanded into Sydney in 1985 — a move that established Levendi in the Asia-Pacific and broadened the family’s artisanal footprint.

The Elizabeth Street workshop

Every Levendi piece begins long before the final stone is set.

Inside the Sydney atelier, each creation passes through multiple stages of craftsmanship, guided by the team of jewellers, CAD designers, setters, polishers and artisans. Design is refined in CAD; the piece is handcrafted at the bench; the stones are placed by master setters; and every surface, edge and claw is finished by hand.

The showroom and the workshop are the same address. What is sold at the front is made at the back.

Mike and Panos

Today, Mike and Panos carry forward the Levendi legacy, honouring the family’s dedication to excellence. They select the gemstones for the high jewellery pieces personally, and Mike — a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Australia — reviews every piece before it leaves the workshop.

Engagement rings and wedding bands. High jewellery built around a single exceptional stone. Pearls. Religious and ceremonial pieces. The Ithaca watch, in which the house’s setting work met mechanical watchmaking for the first time in 2011. And in 2000, the Fabergé Sydney Egg.

Alongside the new work, the house remakes, repairs and cares for pieces it made decades ago — jewellery designed to be worn, cherished, and passed on.
